Wildlife Feeding Regulations
Wildlife Feeding Regulations
Wyoming wildlife draws so many people to our region to visit, to live. Bear, Moose, Mule Deer, Bison, Elk, Sheep and so many more. Often, people are tempted to feed wildlife out of compassion. Yet feeding wild animals is not a nurturing act, but detrimental to their health and can even kill. It is also a violation of County regulations and can come with a stiff fine. Teton County, with its partners, wants to educate locals and the millions who visit each year, about how best to enjoy wildlife without compromising their health and potentially yours.
Please take a moment to watch this video and take any necessary steps to help protect wildlife, and you, in Teton County.
Negative Impacts of Feeding Wildlife
Whether intentional or accidental, giving snacks to wildlife is not helpful to their health. You may not even realize you have attractants that can lead to conflicts with wild animals.
While death is the most extreme consequence, wild animals that are tempted with treats may continually look for them by repeating visits and even returning with their offspring in following years.
This may mean crossing roads, endangering drivers and the animals. It may mean coming to your property endangering you or your pets.
By keeping attractants away from our wild animals you are ensuring a safer life for them and for you.
