November 5th- SPET Ballot item- Teton County Justice Center- Teton County’s courthouse was built in 1968. In 2018, the County started researching the potential remodel of the Courthouse. After much research, the Teton County Courthouse was found to be an aging, structurally deficient essential government facility. The Courthouse has severe deficiencies in energy efficiency, security, and ADA accessibility but most importantly, the building was not built as specified on the plans. The initial recommendation to remodel the existing courthouse with an addition is not feasible. The most efficient and safe option is to rebuild the Courthouse and Detention Facility as a Category IV essential facility that will lead the way for the next century of service to the community.
2018-2024
Research was conducted into the current Courthouse and Detention Facilities. Many studies were completed over the last 6 years.
AMD Architects were contracted by Teton County to design the new Justice Center facility in May 2024.
The County has $30,000,000 set aside for this project. The SPET would add $88,000,000 to the project and the project would begin in 2025.
Construction would begin in 2025 and conclude in approximately 4-5 years.
