Greater Stilson Site Planning
Greater Stilson Site Planning
In 1997 as part of the Teton Village Master Plan, Jackson Hole Mountain Resort transferred 8.52 acres of land within the Greater Stilson site to Teton County for the purposes of recreational ballfields. Over the past twenty-five years several park site designs have been created for the site. In 2018 the Board of County Commissioners and Jackson Town Council adopted through resolution the Teton County/Jackson Parks and Recreation Comprehensive Plan which identified Stilson Park as a ten-year development priority for community athletic fields.
To better understand the community’s recreational needs and the effectiveness of the draft park design in meeting the above goals of the project we encourage you to engage here about your values and ideas.
Teton County requests your input on the following questions which relate to the future of the parcel(s) owned by Teton County:
Portions of the Greater Stilson Site are owned by the Jackson Hole Mountain Resort. In addition to providing parking, JHMR is working to identify additional amenities that may be developed on JHMR land on the Greater Stilson Site. The objective of this portion of the survey is to gather input from the community to prioritize the services under consideration to be developed on JHMR land. Amenities are presented at a very high, conceptual level as this is a very early stage in the design process. JHMR appreciates your time and consideration to help prioritize what's best for the Greater Stilson site and the community.
Land has been identified for wildlife corridors on each of the east and west sides of Stilson Park that may be dedicated to accommodating safe wildlife passage in this important migration zone. The approved design of the Transit Center / dedicated parking spaces allows for a 140 ft wide parcel that could be designated as a wildlife corridor, along the east border of Stilson, adjacent to the bike path. A second wildlife corridor is contemplated for the west border.
JHMR has proposed investing in much needed housing on JHMR land at the Greater Stilson Site. JHMR believes that an optimal location for employee housing is adjacent to a transit center so that employees can rely on a public transit.
