The Planning and Community Development Committee oversees policies, plans, and programs that promote orderly growth and development of the City, as well as issues that serve to preserve the integrity of our city’s neighborhoods, including SA Tomorrow, the Strategic Plan to Respond to Homelessness, UDC policies, the Strategic Housing Implementation Plan, and other long-term housing plans as they relate to the Strategic Housing Implementation Plan (SHIP). The Committee will establish a Task Force focused on increasing the supply of affordable housing for the following: veterans seeking to utilize housing vouchers within five miles of Veterans Affairs health care facility; our disabled neighbors, notably the deaf and blind; seniors; and LGBTQ+ unhoused youth. The Task Force will provide their initial findings and recommendations in a written report to the Council NLT January 15, 2026.
